The Program
Day 1 – Arrival in South Africa
Your journey begins with an international flight to Johannesburg. After arrival you will stay overnight in a comfortable hotel near the airport to relax and adjust to the rhythm of Africa.

Day 2 – Arrival in St. Lucia
After a short domestic flight to Richards Bay you travel to the coastal village of St. Lucia, gateway to the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.
In the afternoon you meet the horses of Bhangazi Horses and enjoy your first relaxed bush ride.

Day 3 – Bush, Beach & Wildlife
Today you experience the true freedom of riding in Africa.
From the bush you ride towards the wide, untouched beaches of the Indian Ocean.
In the afternoon you enjoy a sunset hippo & crocodile boat cruise on the St. Lucia estuary.

Day 4 – Horsemanship & Western Mounted Games
At Ranch Bella Mia you deepen your connection with the horse through horsemanship training.
Later you enjoy fun Western Mounted Games, creating a playful and memorable day with the horses.

Day 5 – Big 5 Safari
A full day safari in the famous Hluhluwe–iMfolozi Park, one of Africa’s oldest and most spectacular game reserves.
Here you may encounter lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo and leopards while exploring the breathtaking landscapes of KwaZulu-Natal.

Day 6 – Culture & Beach Photoshoot
A special day combining riding and culture.
Your final beach and bush ride will be captured during a professional horseback photoshoot.

Later you experience a traditional Zulu food workshop, discovering the flavors and stories of local culture.

Day 7 – Farewell Ride & Night Safari
Your final ride is calm, reflective and special.
Afterwards we enjoy a picnic with the horses before the evening ends with an exciting iSimangaliso night drive in search of nocturnal wildlife.

Day 8 – Departure
You travel back to Richards Bay for your domestic flight to Johannesburg.

Day 9 – Arrival Home
You return home with unforgettable memories of Africa, the horses and the people you met along the way.

During the Horse Safari Week you will stay at the charming Afrikhaya Guesthouse in St. Lucia.

Afrikhaya is known for its relaxed atmosphere, beautiful garden and warm hospitality. It is the perfect base to explore the incredible nature of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
